A mental health support worker focuses on psychosocial disability and the day‑to‑day impacts of mental health, like confidence, routines and community participation. A general disability support worker may have a broader focus and can often support more physical or personal care needs depending on their training. At Animo, mental health is our only focus, so we specifically recruit and train support workers for mental health support
-
An NDIS mental health support worker helps you at home or in the community with goals related to your daily life and mental wellbeing. Here are some examples of how they can help you:
Meeting you at home for a cuppa and a check-in about how you’re travelling that week.
Help with daily tasks like grocery shopping or getting to appointments.
Going for a walk, getting out of the house, and reconnecting with your community at your pace.
Assist with personal admin, like Centrelink forms or paying bills.
Build confidence by going to busy places like the shops together.
Support physical health goals, like joining a gym session.
Animo support workers do not help with personal care like showering or dressing, cleaning your home, or managing medications. If you're unsure what's covered, contact us and we’ll talk it through with you.

No, you don’t need any specific type of funding to access an Animo mental health support worker. We can use funds from either Core Support, or Capacity Building.
